 As always we like to look at the negatives first. Not that we’re pessimistic – just realistic.

The negatives in this case are difficult to nail down to one recurring theme. Reviewers did not appear to have any serious issues with the saw. Mainly the biggest problems were with the fact the unit is too heavy for one person to move and requires more space to utilize. Another problem was the need to lubricate the slider due to a tendency for it to get hung. One negative reviewer felt that the wobbling of the base during operation was due to the fact it was cheaply made. The reviewer felt that metal braces or plywood could be used to reinforce it but believed it should have come with more reinforcements. There were only two negative reviews and the reviewers still believed that overall the saw was quiet and of high quality which speaks well of MK Diamond.

Better yet, working with big tile is a breeze: this unit cuts a 20-inch tile lengthwise and a 14-inch tile diagonally. The locking blade shaft makes blade-changing a snap. The negatives in this case are very few and do not follow a recurring theme among reviewers. One reviewer complained of the poorly written manual . Another felt that the saw was too small and the water reservoir did not work properly and was not happy with the precise cutting performance.

There were actually only two minor negative reviews making it difficult to find negative aspects of the saw. A negative point for one reviewer was that the unit was better equipped for cutting smaller items.

The Positive Reviews

The majority of reviews for the seven inch tile saw with water cooling system model 60088 from QEP were rather positive indeed.

Aside from complaints that the reservoir for water is not removable although the top is making it easily fill able and the unit is best suited for small tile almost everyone was satisfied with the cutting performance of this saw for small jobs. The smooth cuts and included attachments were a plus to reviewers.

Reviewers found it a plus that the motor on the 60088 from QEP ran cool and smooth as long as it was wet. The unit slowed down when the blade got dry or there was pressure put on it. The saw table is metal has to be cleaned properly prior to being put away to prevent rust.

Overall reviewers gave the 60088 model from QEP positive reviews with only minor problems that were easy fixed noted.

Would we recommend the QEP 60088 7-inch Tile saw with water cooling system?

Absolutely and here’s why:

While it may be true that the water tray can not actually be removed the top does come off so that it is easily filled to allow for blade cooling and almost everyone (even negative reviewers) did not have a problem with the overall cutting performance. Reviewers felt that the unit was incredible for small do it yourself projects.

Combine this with the large cutting table, wide range of tile it cuts, water reservoir for blade cooling and limited one year warranty and you’ve got a product that you can feel comfortable using and abusing!

Conclusion

The MK Diamond 158252MK-145 Wet Tile Saw reviews are pretty positive, but this saw is quite messy to work with, although the results are good. Also, it is made out of plastic rather than metal, so it isn’t incredibly durable. Other than those two criticisms however, customers were full of praise for this little saw. It is easy to use and very portable, and it makes accurate cuts of varying angles. You might want to think about cutting each tile half way from both ends to minimise chipping .This is a great little wet tile saw for the occasional DIYer ata great price.  If you have a lot of tile cutting or require a lot of detailed or fancy cuts then this wet tile saw probably isn’t for you and you will need to trade up .

 As always we like to look at the negatives first. Not that we’re pessimistic – just realistic. The negatives in this case are difficult to nail down into one recurring theme. Mainly the rip was not satisfactory on larger items with the unit beginning to smoke making them fear the motor is about to burn out. The dust collection capability of the unit was found lacking by reviewers since it not only failed to collect adequate amounts of dust but blew it back on the unit. One reviewer felt that the metal utilized was inferior since the Allen key broke in half when checking the bolt on the saw blade. The unit base was formed out of a rough casting that had not been sanded and the reviewer cut themselves on it. There were only three completely negative reviews with concerns for safety and the durability of the unit. This does not speak well for quality control.

When we dug into the Skil Flooring Saw, we were incredibly impressed.

This saw is much sturdier than we’d first thought. The metal doesn’t easily chip or bend like some cheaper metals do. Usually the first use shows bad scarring or deep gouges, but not with this saw. There are a few plastic pieces, but they are all tough – not thin pieces of plastic that will easily break. The reviews say that this is a great product; it’s small and cheap- not intended for professional work- but it is accurate and durable.

Key benefits apart from the price are it is easy to set up  and robust ennough for DIY use. The blade cuts well but is more suited to  more thicker tiles  and is easily changed .Minor niggles include the small size of the water resevoir and the fiddliness of the fence adjustment. But for this price, this saw is worth getting. Would suit best for the  DIYer who needs to use a tile saw for several days, but who cannot afford to rent or buy a more fully featured saw.

Arrived in the proper condition. Setup like a small puzzle with a few pieces, due to instructions, but it gave a better understanding of the adjustments that could be made. The saw has performed very well. Stock blade has been making great cuts on 30 sq ft travertine backsplash project. I keep a garden hose on into the tray with a trickle running. The rail isn’t perfect, but the markings on the deck allow you to check alignment on both ends (provided they are accurate, but I haven’t had issues- cuts look good). My biggest complaint may be that I can’t remove the water bin if the saw is mounted by screws. Unscrew it from your mount first. My 5 stars is for value (price/performance), not for function. Do I wish I bought something else? No. I seriously looked at about 3 and chose this one. (B. Wild)
